He's everyone's favorite Pokemon. Always doing his own thing, ignoring that pansy Ash's feeble attempts at establishing dominance. Charizard is cool, hip and powerful.
As a reference I used an iguana, threw in some monitor and flying lizard. Yeah, there are flying lizards, look 'em up. I wanted to stick to something more "real" than a conventional dragon. The wings are really extended ribs with a layer of skin stretched across. I imagine these things are capable of gliding incredible distances, maybe even some species are capable of true flight.
I don't think I've ever seen someone use a gliding lizard referance for Mr. Charzard before...mostly people use Western dragons.
No offense, but I don't think this version of Charzard looks tough. I mean, a kid with a stick could probably take him down
Interesting art none the less!

What's more dangerous than a fire-breathing basilisk? A horned, winged orange iguana!
Yep, flying lizard, but those can't really fly, now can they? I always pictured charizard's wings as modified, jointed shoulder blades after seeing this guy I know (who was a gymnist) show us his very flexible shoulder blades, and my sister said they looked like gargoyle wings.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
